Frequently Asked Questions

  • While counselling helps with day-to-day problems you might be experiencing, psychotherapy looks a little deeper. Psychotherapy often looks at your childhood, teenage years, as well as difficult experiences in your adult life, and we focus on the impact of past events on your life right now.

  • I work primarily with people who have experienced trauma, especially developmental trauma which happens during childhood and adolescence. I keep up to date with trauma research, do regular CPD, I did my thesis on child sexual abuse and its longterm impact, I trained in somatic therapy (which is a highly recommended approach to trauma therapy), and in 2027 I will be certified in EMDR therapy, the gold standard in trauma treatment. I attend regular clincial supervision to support my work with survivors of trauma.

Being a trauma therapist means that I will help you to process safely inside & outside of sessions. Dealing with traumatic memories can be a delicate dance, and trauma research shows that ‘the slower we move the quicker we get there’. We will move as slowly as we need to, to make sure you are getting the support you need to get where you want to be.

  • I’m a queer neurodivergent therapist with lots of relevant life experience, so I ‘get it’. I am fully qualified and accredited, and I take new trainings regularly to upskill to be the best trauma therapist I can be. I’m a somatic practitioner, so I can help you work with the trauma stored in your body without speaking about the events, if that feels too much. My therapy is tailored to you and your needs, so each person’s therapy will look different.

Many of the people I work with were in therapy before (often in the CAMHs system or in CBT) and found it unhelpful. If you have tried therapy and it didn’t help, please feel free to reach out and we can figure out how to get you what you need this time around.

  • Session fees are €100, which you can pay using Revolut, bank transfer, or cash depending on your preference.

If you have health insurance, you will be able to claim back on our sessions, so make sure to call your provider. I can provide receipts on request.

  • I’m often told that I make people feel very comfortable. I am a warm caring person, and in sessions I’m usually very present, grounded, and gently curious.

In our first sessions, we will focus on getting to know each other. I will tell you how I work, and you can let me know what is bringing you to therapy at the moment. Some people like to give context on what has lead to their current feelings, while others want to focus on managing their current symptoms. There is no right or wrong way to approach our therapy.

In moments our therapy might feel light, like a chat with a friend. Laughter and connection will help us to go where we need to go in the tougher moments. When things are heavier, I’ll be by your side. Whatever comes up, we can face it together.

Connection is the opposite of isolation, and most people were isolated during/after traumatic events. In working together, we will combat that isolation, update your body and mind on the threat being over, and help you move through any blocks that are holding you back.

  • We can start with a short consultation session first for you to get a sense of me before booking a first session if you like. I then encourage clients to spend the first few sessions seeing how they feel.

Finding the right therapist is a key step when starting therapy. It is important to find someone you feel like you can be yourself around, that you feel at ease with, and that you can trust to be on your side throughout your journey.

  • Email is usually the quickest way to get me, as I’m often in session so I might miss your call. If you do call, leave me a voicemail and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
